Chev Chelios is a professional assassin working for the West Coast crime syndicate. Chev's girlfriend Eve doesn't know what Chev does and Chev is planning to quit the crime syndicate so he can spend more time with her. But for Chev, things about to get very bad, when he learns he has been injected with a poison called "The Beijing Cocktail" by his rival Verona, which will kill him if his heart rate drops. Trying to stay alive and seeking help from friend, Kaylo and Doc Miles, to keep his heart pumping. Chev sets out to find answerswellprotecting Eve, and get his revenge on those who have betrayed him before the poison kills him.
I am really confused about this film because I don't even know if I really liked it or if it was a waste of time. I think this is a kind of movie that many people would hate and many other people would love. But today, after watching it, i find myself in the middle! I say I really liked it because it is full of action, hilarious parts and the movie doesn't stop a second. I mean, you have to run with the film because it goes fast! In addition, it is a different action film with a different ending (unpredictable one) On the other hand, I say that maybe it was a waste of time because there were some unnecessary scenes…unnecessary! (for example: that one in Chinatown, I think it was kind of 'silly') So its an average film. If you want to see an action film, without expecting too much go and see it… that's why I say you have to give it chance.
Walking into this movie, I was expecting a film similar to The Transporter and have its fair dose of non-stop action. Crank ends up taking "non-stop action" to a whole new levelthe movie doesn't slow down at any point. It was so fast paced that it makes The Transporter look like a docudrama. The plot was decent and didn't involve too many annoying details, but the originality of the movie was in its practically complete absence of any serious, over-dramatic or thought-provoking scenes. Crank sticks to action and adds some great comedy on top of it, notably a very unique (and very public) sex scene. Laughs, crazy fights, sex, explosions are what make a great action flick and this is ALL that Crank really is, albeit at about 100 mph ! I really recommend seeing this one, especially if your going with a bunch of your friends. 10/10
One could argue that Crank works besta comedy. It's occasionally funny, and some times VERY funny.

While in real life he would have been almost liquified when he hits the ground, 99% of the stuff that happens to Chev throughout the film would have killed him. At the end, when he falls out of the helicopter, bounces off a car, then rolls to a stop in front of the camera, bloodied, not moving with his eyes open; the last second of the film we see him blink and hear his heart beating. This is telling us his heart is unstoppable and he will be back in Crank 2: High Voltage. While the theatrical version of "Crank" was rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), at least in Germany there's another version of the film available. Looking at the differences, one can clearly categorize ita director's cut. Up to this point, it is not available in the US.
